What Is a Compressor Energy Savings Calculator?
A compressor energy savings calculator estimates what your compressed air system costs to run each year, then shows the two biggest savings most sites are missing: switching a fixed speed compressor to a variable speed drive (VSD), and fixing air leaks. It works from four numbers you already have: compressor kW, running hours, operating days, and your electricity tariff.
Fixed Speed vs Variable Speed Drive
A fixed speed compressor has two modes: flat out or idling offload, and offload running still consumes 20 to 30% of full load power while producing no air. A VSD compressor matches motor speed to actual demand, so if your demand varies through the day, the saving is typically 15 to 35% of the energy bill.
